Matthias spent 20 months fighting cancer. On 23rd of December 2011 his battle ended. He was a true winner accepting his end and was able to tell us what he wanted for his brothers after his death. He died peacefully and pain free. Chase provided a loving home from home environment. We will be eternally grateful to Chase for making Matthias and our families experience so wholesome. Matthias was able to fulfil one dream with a visit from his football hero Steven Gerrard. He admired Steven Gerrard and wanted to be like him because in Matthias' own words "he never gives up". Matthias was like Steven Gerrard as throughout his treatment he never gave up. Matthias will be remembered for his smile, bravery, strength and sense of humour.
